I’m Aubrey Martinson,an editor at Crown, an imprint of Penguin Random House. I aim to publish narrative nonfiction in the space I call “zeitgeist with legs”: books that speak to our current moment backed up by ideas that will feel just as meaningful in five or ten years from now. These books spark change and conversation, focusing on social justice, investigative journalism, science, unknown history, memoir, and pop culture.
I have edited award-winning and bestselling authors, including Bridget Read, Bobby Finger and Lindsey Weber, Sarah Hartshorne, Edgar Gomez, Emily Galvin-Almanza, Alexa Hagerty, Frances Mayes, Leigh Cowart, Geraldine DeRuiter, Megan Kimble, Guenther Steiner, Matt Whyman, Erin Gruwell and the Freedom Writers, and Maikel Kuijpers. In my time at Crown, I have also worked with acclaimed authors such as David Wallace-Wells, Brandi Carlile, Timothy Snyder, Mitch Albom, Michiko Kakutani, Seth Rogen, Eric Idle, and Michael K. Williams.
A somewhat proud Floridian, I now reside in Brooklyn, New York.
